SAMVOA News from Queensland

SAMVOA will be participating in the 2010 Anzac Day march in Brisbane, Queensland for the first time and any South African ex-servicemen and women (including SAPS) are encouraged and welcome to participate, or even just attend the march as a sideline spectator.

There is a strong initiative to promote SAMVOA in Queensland by exploiting opportunities for a recognisable level of exposure to members from a common military/paramilitary background, or simply those who have vested interests in all things military. The first opportunity Queensland SAMVOA will take advantage of, is to participate in the Brisbane Arms Fair on 7 & 8 November at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre.

A SAMVOA meeting will be held at the Greenbank RSL (54 Anzac Avenue, Hillcrest) on 21 November 2009 from 3pm to 5pm and once again all South African ex servicemen and women are welcome to attend.

There is a strong commitment by SAMVOA to remember those who were lost in battle, and those who are still with us. National Service was characterised best by a Kommandant I served under when he said “It is the best time of your life that you never want to do again”.

Service in defence of South Africa is definitely something to be proud of and for whatever reason a person may choose, the camaraderie offered by this Veteran’s Organisation will go a long way to ensuring that the remembrance of gallantry, valour and service of our countrymen and women remain alive in our current and future generations.
