ANZAC Day - 25 April 2011 - New South Wales

Below is a message from the NSW Chairman of SAMVOA after the 2011 ANZAC Day parade in Sydney.:

On a cold and wet Sydney day we were very pleased to have the following veterans join us:

Nicky Basson - March Commander
Mark Howard Browne & Aubrey Sonnenberg - Standard bearers
Clint Kumm
Tom Elliott
Jason Bolton
Frank White
George Dionyssopoulos
Michael Wilmot
Graeme Lourens

Many members were away on the extended weekend, and we hope to see them and some new members next year.

We were also very pleased to have 3 Australian ex servicemen join us - they had missed their unit and seeing our flag joined us as they has served in Namibia as part of UNTAG. We were delighted to host them in our squad.

Afterwards we met several of the Rhodesian Light Infantry members (some who had trained with South African units) for a few quite beverages at the Customs House Bar.

The stalwarts withdrew to the unofficial canteen at the Greengate Hotel in Killara for a final meal, some two-up watching and then home after a wet but fulfilling day.
