Remembrance Day - 11 November 2010 - West Australia
Garth Pienaar, Regional Chairman of SAMVOA WA, has sent the following report and photographs from the 2010 Remembrance Day service in Perth.
A wreath, on behalf of our countrymen who made the supreme sacrifice, was laid at the Flame of Remembrance auditorium in Kings Park, Perth.

This year marks the 92nd year that the guns fell silent on the Western Front, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, 1918 bringing the carnage of the so called “War to End all Wars” to and end.
The Union of South Africa played a major role in World War One, fighting in German South West Africa, German East Africa, Palestine and of course in France.

It was during this war that the world came to respect the combat abilities of “the Fighting Springboks” and it is to them, as well as those that gave their lives during World War Two, the Korean War as well as on the Border in South West Africa and in Angola, that we laid a wreath in remembrance of.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, “We will Remember Them.”
