Remembrance Day - 11 November 2010 - Queensland

The below message is from the Queensland Chairman of SAMVOA after the 2010 Remembrance Day parade in Brisbane:

SAMVOA recognised Remembrance Day by participating in a wreath laying ceremony at the Greenbank RSL. In attendance was Mike Black (National Vice Chairman), Don Clark, our World War 2 Veteran who was tasked with laying the wreath and Gordon Pugh (Queensland Chairman).

In a move away from the traditional one minute silence, a two minute silence was held. One for those that paid the ultimate price and the second for those that are still with us and who should be recognised for offering up their most precious gift to ensure that we enjoy our freedom, and in many ways paid a monumental price for their service.

Chris Patison and Ernie Lomax were able to attend services in the Brisbane city centre and the Gold Coast.

It is our responsibility never to forget or to be forgotten, thanks to those that were able to attend and to those that took a minute or two wherever they were to pay their respects.
